Fakta Willie "The Lion" Smith räknades på 1920-talet som en av de tre största stride-pianisterna, tillsammans med James P. Johnson och Fats Waller. Han var en inspirationskälla för den unge Duke Ellington. Eftersom han var aktiv in på början av 70-talet sågs Willie "The Lion" Smith som en levande länk till jazzens glansdagar. Don Ewell var en betydande men underskattad pianist. Han började leda egna trior i Baltimore i mitten av 30-talet, spelade under New Orleans-jazzens återuppståndelse (från mitten av 40-talet) och var med Jack Teagarden 1957–1964. Ewell flyttade till New Orleans, där han under sina sista år arbetade regelbundet. Denna inspelning från 1966, gjord live på Golden Nugget i Toronto, innehåller solospel av Smith och Ewell samt duetter mellan dem.
