Fakta The Gothenburg/Malmö trio Barrens return with Corpse Lights, the follow-up to their acclaimed 2020 debut Penumbra. Five years in the making, the album strikes a masterful balance between light and dark, beauty and brutality – a natural progression of the band’s dynamic and melodic expression.

Produced by Kristofer Jönson and mixed/mastered by Magnus Lindberg (Cult of Luna), Corpse Lights weaves sweeping guitars, shimmering synths, and powerful drive together with equal parts stillness and space.

From the dynamic single “Periastron" to the majestic closer “A Nothing Expands", the album is both an emotional journey and a testament to the trio’s deep creative unity.

The title refers to the folk belief in “corpse lights" – ghostly lights said to guide souls toward their final resting place – a fitting symbol for Barrens’ music as a cathartic and vital force.

The result is nine intense compositions that reflect five years of darkness and light, loss and release – without ever uttering a single word.
